Creative Writing Course for Year 7s, 8s and 9s

About the Course

This 3-day holiday course is designed for children in Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) who have a passion for writing. It focuses on descriptive writing, covering the many different techniques involved (such as synonyms, figurative language and sound devices) and the many different forms that it comes in: descriptions of places, people, objects and experiences; non-fiction, fiction and poetry; descriptive passages and interwoven description. We explore these topics through a wide variety of enjoyable activities, striking a good balance between writing tasks and 'skills builder' activities. There are lots of opportunities for the children to share and receive feedback on their work.
